Chapter Twenty-Seven
Early Morning, November 7, 2011
Another disturbing dream woke Kelsey from a deep sleep. This time she saw a scarred man looking into a mirror. The eyes that looked back at her filled Kelsey with loathing. Upon waking, she wrote down every detail she could recall; the man said something, but she couldn’t make out what he said distinctly.
The emotions swirling around Kelsey when she sat up were predominately hatred, anger, and a profound vengeful lust to kill. Kelsey knew her dream immediately was a vision of her as their Unsub as he looked into a mirror.
Kelsey knew she needed to write down the specifics she saw on the face looking back at her from the mirror. The eyes were the most compelling, dark blue, if she were to see them again, she would immediately recognize them. The scars on the left side of his face were extensive like one would get from a fire or chemical burn. The skin looked like it was melted, and healed shiny bright and angry red. Fire, acid, or both were the words she wrote down; Nikki could search for fires that someone survived but left them severely scarred.
Hoping this vision would help them solve the mystery of who this Unsub was, spurned her to extricate herself from her cozy cocoon, and dress for her morning run.
Running through the streets of Northwest D.C., Kelsey found the early November morning crisp and invigorating.
She recalled returning last night to discover her suite filled with the scents of cooking food, burning candles, and a freshly showered Miranda. Their meal waited until Kelsey got her fill of kissing and cuddling the woman who occupied much of her mind all day. The case took most of her mental capacity to investigate, but the rest of the room inside her head had a very inviting resident. What Miranda was doing, how she felt, what she thought of staying in Kelsey’s suite all needed to be answered before Kelsey could consider eating or relaxing. Kelsey had a theory that Miranda was the reason why her visions were more explicit, that her mind could concentrate on investigating more than ever before. Kelsey knew without Miranda nearby; she would still be spiraling in a downward and destructive descent.
The meal was delicious but not as mouth-watering as spending an intimate night within the arms of a petite, erotic lesbian author. Just remembering the delightful moments brought forth her need to see Miranda again and Kelsey raced back to her suite to wake the sleeping woman and show her how much she loved her.

Upon arriving at her office, Kelsey took out her dream book and read them over once again. The notes of the man’s description were the most compelling, but the number one thousand three hundred and one stood out because it was the number she saw on the brick building shrouded in the inky, black of night. Certain this may be an address of the apartment the Unsub searched for, Kelsey highlighted it.
